Opening and Closing Remarks from Gibsons All Candidates Meeting, November 6th, 2011
My name is Charlene SanJenko. It’s very important to me to represent you on Gibsons Council.
My partner Ben and I moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2004 and have been active community leaders ever since.
- The adventure started on North Road- owning and operating a fitness-wellness studio for five years;
- It continued with meaningful several collaborative community initiatives I’ve had the pleasure of playing a lead role in, the Celebration of Excellence for Sunshine Coast Volunteers and Board roles for Sunshine Coast Tourism and Best Coast Initiatives Economic Development are just a few.
A leadership position in local government feels like next logical step – setting an example for younger working individuals that there IS a place for us around the Council table.
Those who know me know… I walk my talk – I feel that the strongest leaders lead not by words but by example.
My diverse entrepreneurial background and professional experience provide me with a wide-angle, big picture approach in all that I do. As a daughter, wife, sister, daughter, step-mom, athlete, mentor, visionary and volunteer, I take immense pride in setting a positive example of what IS possible with effective communication, a strong work ethic and a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
I WILL bring to Council:
- Balance and diversity
- A collaborative view to solutions
- Fresh ideas and youthful energy
My name is Charlene SanJenko and I believe it’s time to get FRESH!
I look forward to bringing my fresh ideas and youthful energy to Council.
I look forward to balancing what is said with what is done.
I look forward to demonstrating to other younger working individuals that there IS a place for us around the Council table… … with a Council that practices decisive, engaging leadership and undertakes clear, forward-thinking action.
I look forward to representing YOU on this Council.
Thank you for coming this evening. Thank you for considering to vote CHARLENE SANJENKO on November 19th.
It’s time for us to move forward – together. It’s time for us to get FRESH.
