GIBSONS GETS FRESH! Vote CSJ for Gibsons Council on November 19th and Get Fresh!

by Charlene SanJenko on October 14, 2011

When you fast-forward 5, 10 or 15 years down the road… what do YOU want for our community?  More importantly, when you look to the future for your family, your business and your happiness in Gibsons, what do you need from our community to best support you and your goals?  Do you have a clear sense that what you most need ~ opportunities, services, resources and leadership ~ will be here and available to you?  Are you excited by the leadership and vision that has been demonstrated to you… or just uncertain?

My partner Ben and I moved to Gibsons in the summer of 2004 to follow my entrepreneurial dream and open a women’s-focused fitness and wellness centre on North Road which we operated for five years.  It was a great introduction to the community, and we had the chance to build quality relationships with a number of amazing people.  We also experienced first-hand the challenges and rewards of running a small business in Gibsons.  I’ve never worked so hard in my life, and I wouldn’t change a second of it.

During the past seven years, we’ve become deeply involved with our community on many levels.   I believe it is vitally important to get younger people actively participating and engaged in our community.  This starts by showing them they are wanted, needed and respected.  It also happens by encouraging leadership roles and framing that the expectation of these roles can work with busy family, life and career commitments.  It doesn’t have to be an ‘either/or’.

My goal is to set an example that this IS possible and to work with an efficient Council in order to do so.  I’m excited to announce that I will be running for Gibsons Council on November 19th.  I encourage you and your friends to get out and vote.

Make a difference in your community and your future.  It’s time that Gibsons Gets FRESH!

“From energetic Entrepreneur to valued Volunteer, Charlene will bring a fresh, creative, passionate and thoughtful approach to Gibsons Council.”    Anne Titcomb
